Having previously been given by the municipality a small plot of land on St. Joseph's Street, on the corner of Alexandria Street, and generally deemed improper for the construction of the future chapel, Mr. Manoel Bezerra offered a piece of land on the curve of the Bonde, the work of construction began. Having between the street and the present construction a land of João Alexandrino de Lima, was the one bought for the capella.
The license of the construction of the capella was given by the diocesan administrator in the month of July, as it appears in the following term:

Given what the Revdo required of us. Father José Bissinger, vicar of Alecrim, in order to be granted the necessary license to create a capella, under the invocation of St. John the Baptist, in the place "Lagoa Sêca", of his parish, after we have approved the plant of the same capella, and all in consideration the necessity of the donation of the land in which the said capella will be built, by deed, according to the law. We will grant the license granted, and, moreover, servatis de jure servandis.
